With today’s investment commitment, the industry has announced plans to rapidly expand ongoing efforts.
U.S. energy storage supply chain companies now have 25 factories in development, 11 of which are under construction or operational, according to the ACP fact sheet.
The commitment “represents a clear pathway to supplying 100% of U.S. energy storage projects with American-made batteries by 2030,” but depends on a “streamlined permitting environment” and predictable tax and trade policy, ACP said.
Renewable energy, especially solar, has become one of the cheapest and fastest ways to add more power supply. Large-scale battery storage helps to overcome the challenges from the intermittent nature of energy derived from the sun and wind, allowing power companies to match supply with times of peak demand.
“The energy storage industry is providing essential power when needed most while boosting domestic manufacturing and creating jobs across the country,” said Jason Grumet, CEO of ACP.
The global commercial and industrial solar energy storage battery market is experiencing unprecedented growth, with demand increasing by over 400% in the past three years. Large-scale battery storage solutions now account for approximately 45% of all new commercial solar installations worldwide. North America leads with a 42% market share, driven by corporate sustainability goals and federal investment tax credits that reduce total system costs by 30-35%. Europe follows with a 35% market share, where standardized industrial storage designs have cut installation timelines by 60% compared to custom solutions. Asia-Pacific represents the fastest-growing region at a 50% CAGR, with manufacturing innovations reducing system prices by 20% annually.
